About the SLA-PAM Index to Translations

The Index to Translations, a project of the Physics-Astronomy-Mathematics Division of the Special Libraries Association, is a tool for identifying translations of scientific publications, which can be difficult to find in traditional literature indexes. The project was inspired by the section "Guide to original works of historical importance and their translation into other languages" by Professor Stephen G. Brush, in Resources for the History of Physics (Hanover, NH: University Press of New England, 1972); data from this work is included here by permission. The Index to Translations also includes other physics translations and has an expanding scope that covers related areas such as chemical physics, geophysics, and mathematics. It includes the fullest bibliographic data possible as well as links, where available, to online versions of the original and/or translated works. The intent is to be as comprehensive as possible, although without judgments on the relative merits of the various translations. This is a work in progress, and we continue to add and improve entries. Corrections or suggestions of titles with existing translations (note that we do not create or commission translations) may be sent to any of the project members listed below.
